Wichita letterboxing trip

The kids and I went to Wichita this past week to see my dad since he's been sick. (Scott had to go to a convention in Ft.Worth so he was unable to be with us.) After that the kids and I went with my mom to go letterboxing. We found 5 boxes. I learned a big lesson. Always wear the right kinds of shoes. I wasn't thinking and left the house in my high heeled boots. My feet were KILLING me by the end of the day! We had a good time though.

Our first box was at a park. We had to cross over an old rickity bridge. It was kind of scary. Then we went to a place that was next to a Butterfly Conservatory. It looked so neat. We wanted to go in but they were closed. :( We followed a trail that eventually led us to an old store where the box was hidden. This one was my favorite find of the day.

Then it was off to the lake for the next box. Then a couple of cemetary's. I don't know that we'll try to get anymore cemetary boxes. It just seems like we're being disrespectful by finding boxes there. We tried to go find the one at the Falls again, but still couldn't find it. :(

We had a nice day. Here are the pictures of our adventures. The last picture is the design Scott made for our family stamp. Since we're called The Rodgers 7 we thought it was perfect for us!

Went to another Church today

For Scott's last day of vacation we went to Mobberly Baptist. It was a neat Church. It was nice visiting another Church in the area.

After that we went to eat at Chilli's, then went grocery shopping at Wal-mart.

We came home and had a restful afternoon. I even got to take a nap! I don't think I posted that we bought a new bed the other day with our tax refund. We've needed a new bed for SO LONG! We finally couldn't put it off any longer. It's really nice.

In fact, I think I'll go hit the hay right now and lay in that nice bed. :)

Kimberly has been trained!

Today she went to the Red Cross Babysitting Training class. It was an all day class. She learned so much! She is now a certified babysitter and certified in CPR. WOO HOO!! Scott and I may try to go out on a short date in a week or two to see how she does, or should I say see how I do. LOL

Scott and his friend Michael went to see the movie Jumper today. It was a guy movie that I wasn't interested in. So I stayed home with the littles and cleaned.

Kirsten and Katherine went to a birthday party so they had some fun this afternoon.

I'm pooped though. It's only 8:40 and I'm ready to hit the hay.

Update on our trailname. Together we are The Rodgers 7, however we each are going to have individual names for when we're at events and stuff.

Another fun day of letterboxing

We had a full day of fun today! It started with us leaving the house at about 9:45am to head to Tyler. We had planned on taking the kids to the zoo then do some letterbox hunting.

Once we were just outside of Tyler we stopped for lunch at this new Exxon truck stop called Smokehouse something. It was the neatest truck stop I have ever seen! The bathroom sinks were so cool!!! They had a sonic inside so me and the kids ate that, while Scott and Kimberly had barbecue that was at another eating place inside.

After that we headed to the zoo. It was the BEST day ever for the zoo!!! I'm not exaggerating, I counted 24 people there besides us! (Not counting the workers) It's like we had the entire zoo to ourselves! It was so cool!! Our favorite was the white tiger. He was right up against the glass. It was neat being so close to him. Yet at the same time it was kind of scary. He kept looking at Christopher like he wanted to eat him. LOL

After the zoo we started on our hunting journey for letterboxes. We had clues to 13 boxes but only had time to find 5 b/c it started getting dark.

The first box we found was actually in a scary place. It was in a run down park in a not so good part of town. On the clue it actually said not to go there at night by yourself. LOL So the kids and I stayed in the car while Scott went and found the box. I was glad to get away from that one. LOL

Then we went to the Tyler Rose Garden. That place would be so neat to go to in the spring and summer when the flowers are in bloom. We'll have to go back there at that time.

The third place was at Rose Rudman Park. There were 2 boxes hidden there. The first one had a neat catch to it. There was a temperature gauge hidden inside so we were supposed to put in the log book what the temp was on the day that we found it. It was 65 degrees today. :)

The next box there was real special. It was at a cancer bell pavilion. It was a bell that represented all those who had lost their lives to cancer or are fighting the battle or have won. After we read the plaque there we rung the bell. It was a special moment. Then we found the box.

After that it was time to head to the last stop, Camp Ford. We found that one just in time before the sun went down.

This was the best day ever! Oh, I forgot to mention how it started before we left. I woke up to a dozen red roses, bag of M&M's, and a journal that had the sweetest, most romantic words from my wonderful husband. He told me to leave the journal out every night so that when I wake up each morning I can see something new that he wrote while I was sleeping. Isn't that sweet? :)

Totally addicted now to letterboxing!!

We had so much fun today!!!!!!! We loaded up the gang and drove to Caddo Lake State Park to search for 2 boxes that were hidden there. Once we arrived we had a picnic by the water. After that is was off for the hunt. We followed the first clue and found the box. It was so cool! Then we were off with the second clue. After we found that box we headed back to the car. The 3rd box was hidden a few miles away. We had a little bit of trouble finding that box. We had followed the directions wrong. This man walking by stopped to talk to us so we told him what we were doing. He was really nice so he started helping us. He ended up finding the box. Scott tried to witness to him b/c it was obvious he was lost, however the holy spirit just wasn't working in his life at this time. His heart was very hard towards hearing the gospel. At least a seed was planted.

After that 3rd box we went to a place in Marshall where one was hidden. We had tried to get it earlier before going to the park but some men were working on the trees right by where the box was hidden. We had hoped they would be gone by the time we found the other's, however they were still there. So we'll have to try to go back sometime this week for that one.

It's just so weird to think that these little boxes are hidden all over the country and how many of them I had probably walked right by without even realizing it!

Day 1 of Scott's vacation

It started out as a rainy day so Scott decided to have a Lord of the Rings movie marathon. He and the girls made it through the first two extended edition movies. They started at 9:30 and stopped at 3:30! As much as they wanted to go on to the last movie they were all starting to feel a little stiff from sitting down for 6 hours! So they went out and worked on the playhouse that Scott is working on for them.

My day was spent doing laundry and cleaning. Fun, fun.

We watched Pursuit of Happyness tonight. That is a really good movie. It really helps puts things into perspective and makes you realize how blessed we really are.

Oh, Katherine ended up getting the virus that's going around. She had a temp of 101.4 today. :( Hopefully she'll feel well enough tomorrow so we can go to Caddo State Park for a picnic and to do some letterboxing.

OH NO! Christopher just came running out of the bathroom with my lipstick all over his face!! He looks like the joker. ARGH!

Busy week

Sorry I haven't posted an update in a few days. Last week flew by for us. I was working alot for Weight Watchers since Kathy went out of town. I got to lead her meetings. I had so much fun! I LOVE leading them. I'm still praying that I get a meeting of my own soon.

Scott is taking some vacation time next week. We don't have enough money to go anywhere big or do anything real special. So instead we're just going to make short day trips to Tyler one day to the zoo, and do some letterboxing. Here is the link if you don't know what that is. Park Day for Smeagol

Today we took Smeagol to McWhorter park for the monthly Ark-la-tex Pug Meet Up group. He had a good time and made some new friends. It was cute watching them together.

Afterwards we made a quick trip to Wal-Mart then it was off to a birthday party for one of Katherine's friends.

Immediately after that I went with the ladies to our monthly ladies night out. Scott went over to Carl's house with the kids. We had a a nice time. We went to Avinger to the 5D Cattle company. It was pretty good. Then we all came back to my house for dessert and sat around and talked.

It's 11:00 now and I'm pooped so I'm off to bed.

Hannah Montana

Yes, we were one of the thousands who went to see the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus 3 D concert. It was pretty good. Me and Kirsten went with my friend Donna and her two girls. Kimberly didn't want to go since it was in 3 D. She does not like 3 D movies.
It was neat the way they did the movie b/c it wasn't just her singing for an hour straight. They did alot of behind the scenes stuff. So that was neat. I really enjoyed it. I think I was singing louder than the kids in the audience. LOL
