Day 1 and 2 of the mission trip

We started out yesterday afternoon and made our way to the first stop at my mom's house in Wichita Falls. We got there around 6:00pm. We had dinner and watched a Tim Hawkins DVD while we waited for Marty and Laura to show up. (One of the other families that was traveling with us on the mission trip.) They got there about 10:30pm. We went to bed then got up bright and early and headed out to meet the college team that was arriving in Wichita. We all met up around 9:00am and headed out. We stopped near Amarillo at a really neat rest stop for lunch. Then got back on the road. We arrived at the Caplin Volcano in New Mexico at 5:15pm. (It would have been 6:15 our time. We gained an hour.) We went up to the top then walked down inside it. It was really beautiful up there. Then we made our way to Raton where we ate dinner then checked into our motel. We checked in just in time for us to unload our luggage then head out into the parking lot to watch the fireworks display that was going on nearby. That was alot of fun. So we were officially on the road for about 12 hours today. It was a LONG day! The kids were all wonderful though. It hasn't been too bad at all traveling with the kids.

On the mission front, we had our first opportunity to try to share the gospel with someone who was lost. There was a man watching the fireworks nearby that started talking to Scott and one of our other guys. He had a beer bottle in his hand and a very dirty mouth. I was praying for them while they talked to the man. Unfortunetly they never got the chance to share the gospel with him. :( I don't count it as a total missed opportunity though b/c he was prayed for and I will continue to pray for him.

Tomorrow we will get up early and head to Cheyenne Wyoming.

Oh and Kimberly and Kirsten are sleeping in an RV tonight with one of the families. That way we wouldn't have to pay for 2 rooms. They were excited.
Here are a few pictures of the first 2 days.
