Nursing Home

Today we went with a few families from our homeschool group to a nursing home in Kilgore. The kids all did a little presentation for them. Some of them sang songs, other's read scripture and poems. Kimberly played the piano. It was a real special time. Cathy, the leader of our group sang a very beautiful song and dedicated it to one of the husband's of a lady who is in our group. He is a resident there in the nursing home now since he's had a stroke. It was very touching. It made me cry.
This was the first time my kids have ever been to a nursing home. It was an eye opening experience for them and very special. I know it meant alot to the residents too b/c several of them were crying during the presentation too. :)
Kirsten sang "Come Thy Fount of Every Blessing"

Katherine sang "Twinkle, twinkle Little Star"
Kimberly played "I am Bound for the Promised Land"

William, Cathy's son, read a few verses from the Bible.
Here Cathy was singing that song. I don't remember the title of it but it was talking about how your never alone b/c God is always right there with you through the good times and bad.
After the presentation the kids passed out cards they had made and visited with some of the residents.

When we left the nursing home we went to McDonalds for lunch. Here are some of the girls hanging out.
